Absolutely. Our students have a significant amount of ESOL students amongst them (English Second Language) and they are enamoured for better want of a word with the American Movie/Rap sort of lifestyle (generally). Our students need to expand their world view and any opportunity to do so is a huge deal. I've just started a link with a school in Coventry to do the same stuff and the students had no idea about England in generally so Web 2.0 and ICT is just opening up their world. We've only started three months ago but its having such a positive experience for the students... hugely keen to be involved. We've got postings on our blog about the class and the students so if you want to direct anyone to that so they can get a idea for our students that would be great.

I have spoken to one of the teachers on the TTP course . He is an English teacher who is very keen to motivate and improve literacy through students using blogs and international links. Are you interested in making linking with this school and others during the next school year which starts in September. Please reply and I will try to set up some links and possibly contact you through skype if you use it.

I saw your profile on edublog educators directory and thought snap! Im teaching at a 100% Pacific Students School in Auckland, New Zealand (Tongan, Samoan and Maori) and were trying to motivate students by using ICT tools. Our students are Y8 (12/13 year old) but definatly suffering from lack of engagement in both their culture and schooling. Generally speaking we've found them most receptive to visual stuff, videos mainly. We've posted a few online and uploaded a view. But their world view is generally so limited, even a log in from another country is a huge deal. If you interested in maybe swapping videos or just starting a thread conversation with our students our blog address is tamakitoday.blogspot.com
